Live Webinar: Midyear Update on U.S. Export Controls and Sanctions 2023

June 27, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$195

Want to be brought current on developments in export controls over the first half of 2023 in only 90 minutes? ECTI’s got you covered.

If you want to stay in command of your export compliance risks, you need to know how those risks may have changed. And a big part of those changes are regulatory developments. 2023 has been an active year for the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) — all of which have published final and proposed rules. Now is a good time to take a breath and catch up on changes to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and OFAC sanctions programs. You will leave this webinar with valuable insights into the previous six months of developments, the ability to cut through the clutter to what is essential, and an understanding of new regulatory requirements your organization must address.

Topics will include:
•    The current state of EAR Russia export controls: new license requirements; remaining license exceptions; special rules for reexports, industrial / chem-bio items, luxury goods, agency compliance guidance, etc.
•    Revisions to the Commerce Control List (CCL): Wassenaar Arrangement, Australia Group implementations and more
•    Additional UAV-focused controls on Iran
•    State of play of BIS semiconductor and advanced computing rules for China
•    Important developments with the Denied Persons, Entity, Unverified, and Military End User Lists
•    Key takeaways from DDTC’s revised Compliance Program Guidelines
•    Temporary, and potential changes to the U.S. Munitions List (USML)
•    What the Biden Administration’s Conventional Arms Transfer Policy could mean for exporters
•    Additional agency guidance on defense services by U.S. persons abroad
•    Proposed rule clarifying the reach of the ITAR into certain non-U.S. activities
•    New and updated OFAC sanctions programs

This webinar will include PowerPoint slides and live video and commentary from Scott Gearity, who brings nearly 20 years of consulting, training, and corporate export compliance program management experience to bear for his clients. Each registrant, even if unable to attend live, will have access to the presentation, certificate of completion, speaker contact information for follow-up questions, and access to the webinar recording within 1-2 business days after the webinar airs. Webinar participants are invited to submit questions during the webinar and the final 30 minutes will be allotted to answering attendee questions.
